Curious about becoming a kid vendor? You’re in the right place! This FAQ covers everything from how to sign up to what to bring on market day, so you feel confident and ready to go at your first event!

• Who can participate as a vendor?

  Any kid entrepreneur between the ages of 7-17 who has completed our Kid Vendor Course or has an approved business plan can apply to be a vendor – visit our Get Started page to find out how to signup for your first market!

• Do I need to take the Kid Vendor Course?

  Yes, unless you have already created a structured business plan through school, another program or on your own. If so, you can submit your plan for approval instead. Visit our Get Started page to create your free community account and access our application and upcoming events.

• How do I register for a market?

  You can apply for a market inside of our Community Portal – register for an account at our Get Started page. Once you have an account, you’ll find all upcoming events along with our application. For your first market, you will need to submit a business plan. Our Kick Start Your Kid-Owned Business course (included in your membership) will help guide you through writing your business plan!

• What can I sell at a Kids Market?

  You can sell handmade products, crafts, artwork, baked goods, services, or other creative items. All items must be made or designed by the kid vendors no reselling of mass-produced products (special circumstances may apply). Certain markets do have restrictions where permanent businesses exist (for example: at Midtown we can’t allow coffee due to a coffee business in the shopping plaza).

  IMPORTANT: Any food items MUST follow Florida Cottage Law and be properly labeled. Click here for information on what is and is not allowed in accordance to the law along with the labeling requirements.

• What should I bring to the market?

  You’ll need to bring your products, any display materials (such as tables, signage, and decorations), a way to accept payments (cash, zelle/venmo/cash app, etc.), and a great attitude! For most outdoor markets, a 10’x10′ tent may be required with appropriate tent weights. Checkout our Amazon storefront for your market essentials.

• Will I have access to electricity or Wi-Fi?

  No, most of our market locations do not provide electricity, and Wi-Fi may be limited. Be prepared to operate without them or bring your own mobile hotspot or battery operated generator.

• Can parents help during the market?

  Parents can assist with setup and provide support, but the business should be led by the child once the booth is setup. The goal is for kids to take charge and gain real-world experience. We ask for the parent to not be a consistent presence to allow the child to confidently shine. We also encourage parents to not sit behind the booth at all – there are seating areas at the market where you can hang out while your child runs their business!

• Is there a fee to participate?

  Yes, there is a small vendor fee to reserve a booth space. The fee helps cover event costs and promotions. Pricing varies by location check our Get Started page for details and application – prices for each market are located on the application.

• Can I share a booth with a friend?

  Yes! We encourage collaboration. If you and a friend have related businesses, you may share a booth (up to 2 kid businesses per booth). Be sure to mention this in your application.

• What happens if I can’t attend a market after signing up?

  We understand that things happen! If you need to cancel, let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your space to another young entrepreneur. We do not offer refunds or rescheduling for late cancellations. Early cancellations (at least 7 days in advance) can be rebooked to another market.

• How can I promote my business before the market?

  We encourage you to invite friends and family to come support you, promote your business on social media (safely, with adult supervision) and create flyers or business cards to hand out before and during the event. Kids Market will actively be marketing all markets on social channels to encourage community involvement, too!

• Can I participate in multiple markets?

  Absolutely, in fact, we highly encourage it! Many of our vendors return for multiple markets to grow their businesses year over year or try out different locations to see which market is the best fit for their business!

  Non-Members: You can sign up for one market at a time! Once you arrive at that market, you’re eligible to sign up for your next market date.

  Members: You can sign up for consecutive markets – as many as you want! We have some kids that like to do monthly markets at the same location, so you can reserve your spot ahead of time – this is especially handy if you sell a popular product like lemonade or 3D printing!

• What are market day of details?

  Once you are approved as a kid vendor and select a market to sell at, you will receive a comprehensive handbook that has tips, day of suggestions, and day of market details! We also send complete load-in instructions 3 days before the market via email.

• How long is a market?

  Each market has unique hours! While most are 10AM-2PM, hours do vary seasonally and market by market. Please check our events calendar for up to date hours.

• What happens if a market is cancelled due to weather?

  Our markets run rain or shine! Just like you work hard getting ready for your business, the event organizers also have costs to cover – even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. Florida weather can be tricky, and being an outdoor business owner means sometimes we have to roll with it!

  Refund Policy:
  In case of EXTREME WEATHER where markets are canceled ahead of time (like a hurricane warning) or morning of (very high chance of lightning) then we will offer a 50% credit towards a future market.

  In cases where the weather becomes bad in the middle of an event and the event must close early unexpectedly, there will be no refunds or credit.

• How can I cancel or update my Kids Market Membership?
